Solar Inspections & Performance Verification
The production total tells you something is off. The inspection tells you what.
A monthly production total can look acceptable while a string sits idle, or look alarming for reasons that have nothing to do with the array. Performance verification puts the observed condition of the installed system beside its equipment information and its operating data, so a shortfall or an incomplete handoff becomes a structured investigation rather than an argument. Green Summit supports solar asset owners and project teams with photovoltaic inspections, commissioning support and performance review tailored to the installed system. We connect what we observe with what the records say, so the responsible parties understand the issue and choose the next step with evidence in hand.
- Licensed engineering firm
- Founded 2014
- Engineered substantiation, not estimates
- Audit-ready documentation
Who this is for
Owners, housing providers, public institutions, Tribal Nations, program administrators and technology companies responsible for a PV system that was just delivered or is not performing as expected.
What we do
- Review the system information. We examine plans, equipment schedules, commissioning records and the production data available to you.
- Inspect the installed system. Qualified personnel document the module, mounting, wiring and system-interface conditions within the inspection scope.
- Verify operation. We review inverter, monitoring and system functions within the authorized inspection or commissioning scope.
- Report deficiencies and actions. We identify the observed issues, the information gaps and the corrective or specialist investigation tasks we recommend.
Our process
- Define the concern. We start with the owner's question and gather the system records.
- Inspect and evaluate. We examine the equipment and the operating information within the defined scope.
- Present and follow through. We present the findings and coordinate verification of the corrections you decide to make.
What you receive
A solar inspection or performance-verification report, supporting photographs and a deficiency or follow-up log. Electrical testing, advanced diagnostics, maintenance and repairs are separate work, and each requires its own expressly defined scope before anyone proceeds.
Benefits
- A documented view of the installed PV conditions and the operating information behind them.
- A clearer basis for prioritizing corrective work or further investigation.
- Findings the owner and the responsible vendor can both read, which shortens the conversation about what happens next.
Why Green Summit
Green Summit is a licensed engineering firm founded in 2014 and a consulting partner delivering end-to-end compliance solutions in building performance. Our engineers, modelers and field professionals connect the analysis to installed conditions and to the decision the owner needs to make. A solar inspection can stand alone or feed a coordinated assessment, implementation and verification engagement, and because we also evaluate solar and battery feasibility and set up monitoring and data logging, we know which records a performance question will eventually depend on. Every report is engineered substantiation, not an estimate, and it is built to be audit-ready from day one.
Frequently asked questions
What is solar performance verification?
Solar performance verification is a structured review of how an installed photovoltaic system is actually performing, using three sources together: the observed condition of the modules, mounting, wiring and interfaces; the plans, equipment schedules and commissioning records; and the production and monitoring data. Comparing the three shows whether a shortfall comes from the equipment, the installation, the monitoring or the expectation itself, and what should happen next.
Is this a government electrical inspection?
No. Our scope provides technical inspection and verification support for the owner or project team. Permit, utility and authority-having-jurisdiction approvals remain separate, and we never present our report as a substitute for them.
Can you investigate an underperforming array?
Yes. We first review the available production, equipment and site information, then define whether additional testing is needed. That order matters: many shortfalls are explained by the records before anyone climbs onto the roof, and the ones that are not become a defined diagnostic scope.
Does an inspection include cleaning or repairs?
Not by default. Maintenance, advanced electrical tests and repair work must be expressly included in the scope and staffed by people qualified for that work. We tell you when a finding calls for one of those, and we keep it distinct from the inspection itself.
What should we send before a solar inspection?
Send the array location, plans, equipment schedules, installer documentation, the concerns you have observed and the production data you can access. Safe access and the inspection or performance scope you want are settled before mobilization, so the visit answers the question you actually asked.
Can findings support commissioning or warranty discussions?
Documented observations help the owner and the responsible vendor identify next steps together. Warranty decisions, repairs, utility permissions and advanced electrical diagnostics remain with the parties authorized for those responsibilities; our report gives those conversations a shared set of facts.
