Solar, Battery & Thermal Storage Apprenticeship Development

Help shape the next energy workforce pathways while the design is still open.

An apprenticeship is not a course. It pairs structured technical instruction with supervised, mentored work for an employer, organized around defined job tasks, safety practices and assessments, and a registered apprenticeship adds sponsorship, standards and approvals on top of that. Green Summit is developing apprenticeship pathways focused on solar photovoltaics, battery systems and thermal energy storage, and we are seeking conversations with employers, Tribal Nations, colleges and workforce partners who want to connect technical instruction with meaningful supervised work. These pathways are in development; this page is for partnership and interest inquiries only.

Who this is for

Employers, Tribal Nations, colleges, workforce organizations and technical partners interested in shaping a project-connected solar, battery or thermal-storage pathway, and the HERS professionals and field technicians who want to know what may come next.

What we do

  • Identify employer and community needs. We work out the work roles, projects, starting skills and workforce outcomes a pathway should address before we design anything.
  • Plan the technical instruction. We map learning across building science, system fundamentals, safety, testing and documentation for solar, battery and thermal-storage work.
  • Develop supervised work and mentorship. We help establish the employer, mentor and practical-experience arrangements a credible pathway depends on.
  • Evaluate program structure and approvals. We assess sponsorship, registration, funding and credential requirements with the partners who hold those decisions.

Our process

  1. Define the partnership. We identify the employers, hosts and communities involved and what each brings.
  2. Design the work pathway. Together we map job tasks, learning, mentoring and evaluation.
  3. Resolve program requirements. We confirm sponsorship, registration where it is pursued, and the operating commitments each partner makes.
  4. Announce only confirmed offerings. We publish enrollment, dates and credentials after the relevant arrangements are in place, never before.

What partners receive

A seat in the planning discussion and a structured way to shape it: a needs assessment for your roles and projects, a draft pathway that maps tasks to instruction, mentoring and assessment, and a clear account of the sponsorship, registration, funding and credential questions still to be resolved before any program can be announced.

Benefits

  • An opportunity to shape training around real employer and community needs, while the design is still open.
  • A coordinated discussion of classroom instruction and supervised work, rather than two programs that never meet.
  • Clear separation between a development concept and an approved program, so no one commits to something that does not yet exist.

Why Green Summit

Green Summit is a consulting partner delivering end-to-end compliance solutions in building performance. We bring engineering, solar and building-performance experience together with hands-on technical education, in a licensed engineering firm founded in 2014 that is also Cherokee-TERO certified. Our aim is to connect those strengths with the employers and institutions required to sustain a workforce pathway, because a pathway without employers is a syllabus.

In development. These pathways are not open for enrollment. Sponsorship, employer commitments, funding, any registration and credential outcomes must be confirmed before a program is announced, and we never describe a concept as a program before that happens.

Frequently asked questions

What is an energy apprenticeship pathway?

It is a structured combination of technical instruction and supervised, mentored work with an employer, built around defined job tasks, safety practices, assessments and employer participation. In solar, battery and thermal-storage work that means learning system fundamentals, testing and documentation in the classroom and applying them on real installations under supervision. Registration as a formal apprenticeship is a separate step with its own sponsorship, standards and approvals.

Are these apprenticeships open for enrollment?

No. Solar, battery and thermal-storage apprenticeship pathways are in development. This page invites partnership and interest inquiries; it is not an enrollment announcement.

Are they registered apprenticeships?

No registered status is claimed here. Sponsorship, standards, approvals and employer arrangements must be established and confirmed before we make any registered-apprenticeship representation.

Who should contact Green Summit?

Tribal Nations, colleges, workforce organizations, employers and technical partners interested in developing project-connected training pathways. If you have projects, learners or a facility that could anchor a pathway, we would like to talk.

What would the program need to include?

A credible pathway needs defined job tasks, instruction, supervised work, safety practices, mentoring, assessments and employer participation. The specific curriculum and qualification requirements remain to be finalized with the partners involved.

Will participation guarantee a job or trade license?

No. Neither a job nor a license is guaranteed. Employment, licensing and certification requirements are separate matters, and we will describe them accurately when a program is ready to announce.

Let's talk about building a pathway together.

Tell us who you are, the solar, battery or thermal-storage work in your region, and the role your organization could play as employer, host, funder or instructor.
