Commercial Envelope Testing Co.

A focused company for commercial whole-building air-leakage testing.

Commercial Envelope Testing Co. is a wholly owned Green Summit company that performs whole-building air-leakage testing for commercial and larger buildings. It exists so that testing can be scoped, scheduled and delivered as a defined work package alongside your project or commissioning team, while drawing on Green Summit's engineering, building-science and quality-assurance depth. It has its own website at commercialenvelopetesting.com.

What it does

  • Confirms the testing requirement. Reviews the code, specification or program that applies and identifies the test boundary and acceptance criteria.
  • Plans readiness and logistics. Coordinates openings, HVAC conditions, temporary sealing, access, power and the construction team's responsibilities, so test day is part of a defined closeout plan rather than a surprise.
  • Conducts the test. Measures enclosure leakage with qualified personnel, calibrated equipment and the selected procedure.
  • Reports and follows through. Documents results, conditions and limitations, and coordinates any troubleshooting or retesting the project needs.

Why a separate company

Commercial testing has its own rhythm: large enclosures, multiple fans, tight construction schedules and a result the whole project is waiting on. A dedicated company keeps that work focused and predictable. Green Summit can then coordinate the related energy modeling, code support and project verification, so the test is never isolated from the rest of the building's requirements.

Who this is for

Builders, general contractors, design teams, developers, owners and public agencies with a commercial or larger multifamily building that must meet an air-leakage requirement.

Frequently asked questions

Is Commercial Envelope Testing Co. part of Green Summit?

Yes. It is a wholly owned Green Summit company with its own name, website and focus. Engagements can be contracted through either company; the engineering and quality-assurance depth behind the work is the same.

Does a test guarantee the building will pass?

No. A test measures what the enclosure does under the test conditions. Planning readiness early is the best way to avoid a failed test; if a building does not meet its target, we document the conditions and coordinate the troubleshooting and retesting the project needs.

Can you also do residential blower-door and duct-leakage testing?

Those are delivered by Green Summit directly, within our RESNET Rating Providership and building-performance practice, and can be coordinated on the same project.

Let's plan the test before test day.

Send the building's drawings, size, use, location and the requirement you need to satisfy.
