ENERGY STAR Homes Support

Every home is verified on its own. Build that into how you deliver them.

ENERGY STAR certification for homes recognizes a new single-family or manufactured home built and verified to the program's requirements, and the two housing types do not share every requirement or delivery role. A site-built home is inspected and tested where it stands; a manufactured home is produced in a plant under its own program authority and then installed, and the workflow for one does not transfer automatically to the other. Production builders pursue the certification community by community, which is why verification has to be built into the delivery process rather than added at the end. Green Summit, a RESNET Rating Provider and licensed engineering firm, supports ENERGY STAR home projects with rating, technical coordination and field verification matched to the housing type and program, and we establish the program, the responsible parties and the verification sequence before we represent any work as a certification engagement.

Who this is for

Production and custom builders, developers and design teams delivering new single-family or manufactured homes, Tribal housing programs and the raters who verify the homes.

What we do

  • Establish the housing type and program. We review the location, the project characteristics and the certification requirements that apply, and we say plainly which program and version the homes fall under.
  • Coordinate design and rating work. We connect the energy-model inputs and mandatory measures with the construction documents, so the plans and the rating describe the same home.
  • Plan field verification. We identify the inspection stages, the testing requirements and the qualified personnel each stage needs, and we schedule them around the builder's sequence.
  • Support complete records. We organize the evidence and corrections for every home and manage the authorized certification handoff.

Our process

  1. Identify the program and the delivery roles. We establish the housing program that applies and who is responsible for design, installation and verification.
  2. Coordinate requirements and milestones. We align the technical requirements with the inspection milestones in the construction schedule.
  3. Complete authorized verification and documentation. We finish the verification the program authorizes us to perform and deliver the records for closeout.

What you receive

Rating, inspection, testing and documentation support defined for the specific housing program in your engagement. For manufactured homes, plant or project authority is established separately, and nothing in our support implies HUD inspection-agency authority.

Benefits

  • A defined set of design, installation and verification responsibilities for the selected home program.
  • Continuity between construction-stage evidence and certification closeout, home by home.
  • A repeatable technical and reporting approach a builder can carry from one community to the next.
  • Plans, equipment selections, installation observations and diagnostic records that stay connected to the specific home and its current design.

Why Green Summit

Green Summit combines building-science analysis, rating-provider quality processes and project coordination. Founded in 2014, we are RESNET Rating Provider No. 1998-221 and a licensed engineering firm, and we define the qualifications and evidence the selected program requires rather than treating every credential as interchangeable. We support the rating and the verification; the program awards the certification.

Our role begins when we establish which program the homes fall under and ends with the authorized certification handoff for each home. Between those points we keep the plans, the rating and the field record describing the same house, and we tell you when a requirement belongs to a plant, an inspection agency or a program authority rather than to us.

Frequently asked questions

What is ENERGY STAR Homes Support?

It is Green Summit's rating, technical coordination and field-verification support for homes pursuing ENERGY STAR certification. The program certifies individual homes, single-family and manufactured, that are built and verified to its requirements, and the housing type determines the program, the delivery roles and the verification sequence. We establish all three before we represent the work as a certification engagement.

Can a site-built workflow be used for manufactured homes?

Not automatically. Manufactured housing has distinct production, installation and program requirements, and each must be addressed on its own terms rather than borrowed from a site-built checklist.

Do you certify every home type in every state?

No, and we make no blanket claim. We establish eligibility, jurisdiction, personnel and program authorization before an engagement begins, and the program itself awards each certification.

Can you coordinate this with HERS work?

Yes, where the program uses that pathway, and as a RESNET Rating Provider we do it routinely. The HERS rating and the additional program requirements remain distinct, so a rating alone never stands in for the certification.

What records are needed during construction?

The program determines the checklists and evidence. Plans, equipment selections, installation observations and diagnostic records should stay connected to the specific home and its current design, and we organize them that way.

Can you support a builder across multiple communities?

Yes. We coordinate a consistent technical and reporting approach across contracted communities, subject to qualified local coverage and the program's requirements. Standardization never removes the home-specific verification each certification requires.

Let's build verification into your delivery schedule.

Tell us the housing type, the communities or projects involved and where they are, and whether the homes are site-built or manufactured.
