Energy Investment Tax-Credit Support

Connect the energy system to the evidence your tax team needs.

A solar array or a battery system is not qualified by its equipment label. Ownership, project timing, placed-in-service facts, technical eligibility and labor and sourcing requirements all affect what investment credit a project can support, and a sales proposal answers none of those questions on its own. Green Summit supports project-specific energy investment-credit reviews, [including Section 48E](/expertise/section-48e-clean-electricity-investment-credit/), with technical analysis, equipment review, cost documentation and coordination with your qualified tax advisors. We keep every one of those questions connected to the actual project, so your tax team works from facts rather than from a vendor's summary.

Who this is for

Developers, building owners and manufacturers installing solar, storage or other qualifying energy property, and the accounting firms advising them on the credit.

What we do

  • Define the project. We review the proposed or installed system, the ownership structure and the construction and operation dates that matter to the credit.
  • Review the technical information. We organize equipment specifications, design information, inspections and performance assumptions into one record.
  • Support cost substantiation. We connect project costs and scope boundaries with your advisor's credit analysis, so your advisor can separate eligible and ineligible costs on evidence.
  • Coordinate specialist questions. We identify where current tax guidance, bonus-credit conditions, sourcing restrictions or a separate program review is required, and we say so early.

Our process

  1. Screen the system, the claimant and the dates. We establish what was or will be installed, who will own it and when construction started and the system was or will be placed in service.
  2. Confirm what your tax team needs. We establish their information and verification requirements before the engineering work begins, so nothing is documented twice or not at all.
  3. Deliver the engineering support. We complete the technical work, resolve discrepancies between the design documents and the installed system, and hand off the documentation to your advisors with the open items listed.

What you receive

A technical support package describing the system, the records, the cost inputs and the qualification questions that remain unresolved, organized so your advisor can see, item by item, what the engineering establishes and what still depends on current guidance or the claimant's position. Credit rates, bonuses and final return positions are not guaranteed, and we never present them as if they were.

Benefits

  • Early identification of the technical and cost records a qualifying energy project needs, before the equipment is ordered and the records are scattered.
  • Better coordination between system design, ownership, incentive assumptions and tax review.
  • A clear line between what the engineering establishes and what remains a tax or legal question for your advisors.

Why Green Summit

Most tax incentive studies are written by accountants. Ours are written by engineers and reviewed by CPAs. Green Summit is a consulting partner delivering end-to-end compliance solutions, and on an energy credit that means we connect engineering evidence and cost records with your financial and tax-advisor review rather than handing you a number. We organize the scope around the actual asset and the documented facts, not a promised benefit or a template percentage.

Founded in 2014 as a licensed engineering firm with in-house tax professionals, we build every package to be audit-ready from day one, and we stay available to your advisors if questions come later.

Frequently asked questions

What is the energy investment tax credit?

A federal tax credit for qualifying energy property, such as solar, energy storage and other eligible systems, including property covered by Section 48E. Eligibility turns on ownership, project timing, placed-in-service facts, technical eligibility and any labor and sourcing requirements, not on the equipment label. Your tax advisor determines the credit; our work supplies the engineering and cost evidence behind it.

Do solar and battery storage follow identical rules?

Not necessarily. Each property type and each provision that applies needs its own review. Wind and solar timing restrictions should not automatically be applied to every storage project, and we never assume they do.

Can you confirm a credit from a sales proposal?

No. A proposal is a starting point, not sufficient proof. We review the technical facts and the supporting records with your tax team before anyone relies on a figure.

Do you cover every energy-credit program?

No. We confirm the provision you are asking about and the delivery scope before the engagement begins, and we bring in specialist coordination where it is needed.

What records support an energy-credit review?

Equipment specifications, ownership, contracts, invoices, construction-start evidence and placed-in-service records define the review. Any labor, sourcing or bonus-credit requirement needs its own current analysis.

Will financing or ownership structure change the review?

Potentially. Leases, ownership entities, direct-pay eligibility and financing terms can change who may claim a benefit and what evidence is needed. We coordinate the technical facts with your legal and tax advisors.
