Battery Storage & Load-Management Advisory
Give the battery a defined job before you give it a size.
A battery has two sizes: the power it can deliver at any moment and the energy it can hold over time, and a system that is right for one job can be wrong for another. Peak management, operating flexibility and backup each call for a different combination, so the analysis has to begin with your facility's loads, tariffs and priorities rather than a capacity chosen in isolation. Green Summit helps you evaluate battery storage for those defined jobs, documents the sizing and operating assumptions and supports procurement and the performance review that follows. We are a licensed engineering firm founded in 2014, and we connect storage with building loads, capital planning and field verification.

Who this is for
Developers, owners, housing providers, Tribal Nations, program administrators and technology companies considering a battery for demand management, flexibility or a defined backup need.
What we do
- Review the loads and the tariff. We examine interval loads, demand charges and the changes in electricity use you expect, because those three decide what a battery can earn.
- Compare configurations. We weigh power, energy duration, operating schedules and interactions with PV, generators or building controls.
- Define what procurement needs. We set out procurement assumptions, acceptance criteria, monitoring and performance-review needs before you go to market.
Our process
- Agree the battery's purpose and the evidence needed to support it.
- Evaluate site-specific configurations and economics. We test the candidate sizes against your loads and tariff, not a generic profile.
- Define verification. We coordinate the technical questions and define how the selected operating strategy will be verified once the system runs.
Benefits
- A clearer distinction between backup value and demand-management value.
- Documented sizing and operating assumptions that a vendor, a lender or a future operator can read.
- Technical support for procurement and for the performance review that follows.
Why Green Summit
We connect storage with building loads, capital planning and field verification, so the same assumptions that size the battery are the ones checked when it is operating. Green Summit is a licensed engineering firm founded in 2014 and a consulting partner delivering end-to-end compliance solutions in building performance; our findings are engineered substantiation, not estimates, and the record is built to be audit-ready from day one.
Electrical design, installation, protection and utility approval belong to the project parties qualified for them, and we keep those roles explicit from the first conversation. Our advisory work informs their decisions; it never stands in for them.
Frequently asked questions
What is battery load management?
Battery load management uses a battery to change when a facility draws electricity from the grid: charging when demand or prices are low and discharging to shave peaks, smooth operating swings or carry defined loads through an outage. The battery does not reduce how much energy the building uses so much as reshape when it uses it, which is why the value depends on the tariff, the load shape and the job the battery is given.
What is the difference between power and energy capacity?
Power describes the rate at which the system can supply or absorb electricity at any moment. Energy capacity describes how much it can deliver over time. A load-management or backup task needs both figures, because a battery with ample power and little energy runs out early, and the reverse cannot cover the peak.
Can the same battery manage demand and provide backup?
Potentially, but operating priorities and state-of-charge requirements can compete. The analysis identifies the intended hierarchy between the two objectives and how much capacity remains for each, so a battery discharged for peak shaving is never assumed to be full when the outage arrives. If both jobs matter, the sizing has to say so.
What data is most useful?
Interval electric-use data, tariff information, critical-load requirements, site constraints and any planned equipment changes define the analysis. Monthly bills show how much energy you used; interval data shows when, and a battery is sized by when. The more of that you can share at the outset, the more specific the comparison we can give you.
Are the savings guaranteed?
No. Tariffs, load shape, dispatch, degradation and operating conditions all affect the result, and we present modeled outcomes as projections with their assumptions visible, never as a promise. Any contractual performance guarantee would require its own terms and its own responsible provider, and we will tell you when a vendor's proposal quietly assumes one.
Can you review an existing battery installation?
Yes, through a defined monitoring or performance-verification scope that compares actual operation with the intended strategy. That work depends on access, data and suitable electrical qualifications, and we establish all three before we start.
Let's give the battery a job before we give it a size.
Tell us the facility type and location, what you want the battery to do and whether you can share interval data and tariff information.
